DBMS is the software used to build a database system that is " perfect " . DBMS must be able to manage the database so it can be stored properly without causing chaos , can be used by multiple users in accordance with their respective interests , to protect from interference the parties are not authorized .
Based on the orientation of the wearer , we can classify DBMS into 2 categories , namely :
I. DBMS -oriented to one or few users
MS - Access , dBase / Clipper , FoxBase , - Borland Paradox DBMS are examples that are more oriented to the user and therefore can be easily installed in a personal computer ( Personal Computer / PC ) . In the first group the DBMS development occurred in the following aspects:
1 . If initially , the structure of the table only includes defining the field name , type and size , newer DBMS features also include whether or not the field should be left empty, the initial value ( default ) , description of field and form validation ( defining domain value ) as part of the table structure .
2 . Data types that can be handled by the DBMS is the more recent , such as data storage to accommodate the needs of a long text , formatted text , images , OLE data , money and data autoincrement ( whose value increases automatically )
3 . Together with its main components , DBMS groups also often equipped with various additional facilities to facilitate the user in using a DBMS such as for making queries , preparing reports , making the screen to interact with the data , even to manufacture ( to generate ) perinta macro database is automatically pendifinisian through the menu and screen display .
4 . DBMS this group , because it is more oriented to a single user , is also often used as a media database application builder , so the DBMS and database applications be integrated database application even so unifying own database application even considered seabgai database objects as tables data that we use to store data .
Because the orientation of the user as it is, then the DBMS DBMS - group is weak in a number of aspects that it should be kept in a second group of DBMS , such as issues relating to database security , database maintenance , database usage control competition etc. .
